Freezing time w/ ONLY ONE camera, 360 degrees, 7200 fps

Birt 5 des 2013
How to use ONE camera to capture the 360 effect like in the Matrix. I've been working on this project for over 6 months. Special thanks to Ken for doing most of the heavy lifting on the rig we designed.

  • Omg so smart

  • Mark Roger > Slo-Mo Guys

  • Please redo this with a new highspeed camera!!!! would love to see the change in quality to today's cameras like the phantom 2640 or something of the like

  • The balloon look liked a nice sun

  • Day 1 of commenting this!!! For October you should make a bowl that shoots silly string or something when someone takes more then one piece of candy!!!

  • 1:55 definitely my favorite.

  • I every second enjoyed this

  • Not awesome footage.

  • I just realised, every slow-motion clip we see in this video is of two mirrors

  • How does this work?

  • The bullet time effect is done with multiple cameras

  • Ahh, anyone else watching after During / after COVID-19

  • I'm here like wait.. can't you then use 3D software to map this and create an AR model/animation?

  • Great video this guy should work at NASA

  • genius

  • But why didn't you put the inner frame in the top outside not to be the cameras view?

  • 𝙏𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙤𝙣 𝙖 𝙥𝙞𝙜𝙜𝙮 𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙮𝙡𝙞𝙨𝙩-

  • camera: *"ZA WARUDO"*

  • They record at like 100 000 fps

  • The slow mo guys be like: THOSE ARE ROOKIE NUMBERS

  • Shoot with a 3d camera

  • To Tomass. I'm commenting in 2020, as I didn't have a phone 5 years ago! Amazing to watch, almost beautiful, moving art brought to a standstill.

  • Bruh just pause the video you don't need all that equipment

  • You should build this again but with a modern rig.

    • We live in an age where "modern" changes every few years wow

  • Beautiful.... This was fun watching.

  • Better late than never

  • At first I was upset that you were destroying Jarritos but then I saw it was strawberry flavor, which is terrible.

  • Wait it’s all mirrors Always has been

  • I bought 360 camera today, and this video shows in my recommendation today...

  • Mark is a really good shot, he it it ever time

  • Awesome, Do it again in 2020 but more better

  • Anyone see that rainbow at 1:48

  • Do you want ants? Cause this is how we get ants!

  • I once did a bullet time experiment with my Canon T3i. I set the shutter speed really high and turned on rapid fire (only3.5fps) with the T3i. Then stuck one of my kids toys in a table and starting shooting as I walked around the toy. Came out pretty interesting. I now have a Canon 90D that can shoot at 11fps on live view mode. I really need to try this again with that camera.

  • Yes...incredible visuals. I just can't understand why you would destroy a Jarritos soft drink...worst than spilling beer.

  • Ha i can just freeze time by taking a single picture

  • 6 yrs later lol

  • Imagine doin gthis with the new phantom. 4k and at least 3 times as much fps. Time for technologie goes so way too fast

  • Just discovered this video, absolutely awesome! I think you used a regular mirror? Surface mirrors would've improved your image sharpness. I'd love it if you made a follow up with improvements

  • Ook so now I want a part 2 of this

  • Whos here in 2020?

  • Pretty cool although i doubt that a tiny marble from a slingshot going that distance maybe sometimes hitting or missing the target could break through the metal of the propane tank no less starting a fire causing it to explode.

  • You should collaborate with the "Slow-Mo Guys"

  • This deserves more like

  • The video quality was not as Good as it could be because some light energy was absorbed by the mirrors. You guys could've uses a prism and the concept of total internal reflection . With the knowledge and instruments you had , it was very much possible to build the rig with a prism. Share your thoughts please

  • How this video only has like 450 comments

  • Joe Rogan is that you? 🤣🤣

  • Too bad nothing they got was in focus

  • this isn't what you want right...

  • Sorry buddies, this is 2020 and the footage kinda sucks!! Is blurry and out of focus

    • I don’t know you but if I did I know I would not like you

    • the fact that this is 2020 is irrelevant

    • This was posted 6 years ago)

  • The one where the ball took the baloon leaving the water behind

  • I watched the slow mo part in slow mo....

  • hah i wanted to play with my slingshot realized video is 6 years old and iam like holy cow how long is this slingshot here :O realized i was indoors for 6 years watching youtube missing my life...

  • My network stopped the time

  • 421 comments sorry y’all

  • When u film fire in that way its awesome

  • Yea

  • I've got a surgeons lantern with an array of flat mirrors around a focal point where the bulb is. I'm thinkin': can you do a rotating 'bullet time' effect with that? With a high def camera and a flash gun? *Sucks teeth*

  • Wait so when they did this in the matrix, did they use a really big camera or did they shrink Keanu reeves down?? 🤔🤔

    • @A1 - ZoloSolo that makes sense, thanks

    • They probably shrunk him down cuz it would cost a lot to build a rig big enough

  • I guess because of the mirrors the quality compromised a bit

  • **The Slow Mo Guys has entered the chat**

  • Lol i thought they meant a 360° video

  • 2:26 I'm gonna put that on my wallpaper for ever

  • Why dont u first take video and then play it on slowmotion Why to use so much expensive camera?

  • The ISchats algorithm sent us here...

  • I thought I had seen all of your videos, but someone missed this one. Great idea and beautiful footage!!

  • He’s the one

  • For a more clear view u could use the disks from hard drives

  • Mechanical engineers love 80/20.

  • is no one going to talk about how asethetic this is????

  • Wow

  • Why not put the camera above...

    • You won't get the 360° effect

  • Just got a this channel so fascinating

  • Uh

  • Everyone commenting 5 years ago: How did i not see this earlier! Me:

  • Love the Aesthetic

  • Insta360 one r

  • Not my jarritos!

  • This guy could one day become a big ISchatsr.

  • How am I only seeing this now? This is so cool!

  • Having that Zeiss Glass on top of Phantom was a lot of money to risk

  • Might be a bit nippicky , but isn't a phantom so expensive it's not even cheeper to do this than just a normal bullettime with cheaper camera's? And much more complicated?

  • Hey boi listen closely I need quick money .......yea I got you you can do is donate a dollar to chiragsharma6283@oksbi hurry do it cause Nike says JUST DO IT

  • 2:10 feels like early 2000s music video

  • why do the spinny ones look blurry

    • Cause the processor of the camera needs to change to a lower Resolution to handle the high fps

  • And the same guy is building obstacle courses for squirrels. Amazing.

  • Love getting mark rober videos 6 years later hbu?

  • Some of those BBs didn't go through the water balloon... I think you're good with the propane tank.

  • youtube has some weird allgorithims

  • Anyone here in 2020?

  • 2020?

  • 999,576th viewer! Let's get to 1 million!

  • Wait wait wait the tiny red line is moving too fast i want *more*

  • The comment section is so dead

  • 985k views but only 361 comments. Why?

  • If he uploaded this video today it would be 19 minutes long

  • Do this again with a modern phantom that can go wayyyyyy higher frames! The slo mo guys come to mind as youtubers with the highest end of phantom cameras
