Summary: I built a rock skipping robot with the help of my nieces and nephews to understand the perfect way to skip a rock. In the end we learned that 4 things matter most:
1) Rock angle of 20 degrees
2) Rock PATH angle of 20 degrees
3) Spin the rock as much as possible
4) Choose a rock that is flat on the bottom and as heavy as possible for you to still get to your max arm speed.

More than rock skipping robot i loved the way he made his nieces nd nephews work as a team. Each of them according to their age nd intellectual capability was helping the project. I remember this saying from LOTR, if u want to go fast go alone nd if u want to go far go together. Guy didn't just create scientific instrument, he passed on legacy.

*while this comment/observation might be late did you ever consider polishing the underside of the rocks that would have direct contact with the surface of the water?...also not handling the rocks with your bare hands which would transfer natural oils to the rock which would disturb the surface tension of the rocks trajectory...while the over all effect might be subtle the compound effects would be magnified and build on each other from jump to jump....am i over thinking this?*

Hey Mark. I also grew up going to Lake Cavanaugh every summer growing up. I bet we were there at the same time all the time. What part of the lake were you located? I was located in the middle south side of the lake and also had other family on the top right finger of the lake. I remember going to the little store on the lake where you could pull up with your boat and grab some things and go back to fishing or swimming. Wow this video brought back a lot of great memories. thank you.
