  • Great vid. Not 20 minutes, Straight to the point, and extremely helpful. Thank you

  • Beard wash was giving me acne. I swapped to a sulfate free shampoo for my beard and it is amazing.

  • The final step resonates with me most. My beard is imperfect, but I ought to be grateful for what I have.

  • I’m a massive over trimmer. Like daily. Thanks for the tips!

  • This was a very well done video. Thanks for making it.

  • 🤙🏻

  • To the sides of your lip.

  • Beard oil is a multi-billion dollar scam and completely unnecessary. As are creams, butters etc. Simply shampoo and condition like the rest of your hair.

  • Arthur morgan gave us some tips

  • Dude , I spend 10 minutes on my beard a month. That's all . Anymore dedication to grooming a beard than that without a wedding or funeral to go to ... well , if that's the case then you're just a hopeless case . Just go wax the inside of your pickup truck bed while you're at it .

  • Does anyone else's beard grow more and thicker in the middle of your chin than it does going up the jaw line?

  • should I wash my beard daily?

  • I’ve use head & shoulders shampoo and it help it grow quick. Might not work for everyone but it does help plus I use beard oil after every shower

  • Very helpful! 🙏💯😊

  • Christ, I'm doing at least 5 of these 😬. Especially the over trimming which happened recently, that left my beard looking like a wave and I'm back to baby face now cause of how bad i messed it up

  • Just do what I do and dont grow one. because i dont want to look like a homeless rapist, or worse a hipster

  • No way I’m buying a hair dryer

  • thanks for your advice bro believe me they are very useful to me

  • One does not choose to grow a beard. It grows by itself. One only chooses whether or not to shave.

  • #9 Always check your spelling and grammar. #8 should be COMPARING not COMPAIRING. 😑 That advice should be worth a sample or two. 😉

  • Great video

  • Even easier, don't grow beards...

  • Thank you so much for this 👏🏽

  • US Military version only has 2 options, 1) don't grow one 2) shaving waver

    • It’s been that way for centuries... started with Alexander the Great I believe.

  • solid video

  • Where do I get the trimmer from?

  • So a mallet and chisel is a no no? Good to know.

  • This needs to be captioned

  • Thanks Matt

  • Awesome video!

  • #1 Growing a beard #2 Growing a beard....

  • Tip 8. Very good tip.

  • 1) Actually thinking that what you have is a beard, when you don't.

  • ksi needs this

  • This channel is a must! Most of us ignore most of this..

  • Great video mate!

  • Mistake number one : you grew a beard. Video done

  • Mistake 1: looking like a tool. Oh too late, this mistake was made in your thumbnail

  • Man don't know what it is but his personality is so calming. Great video production. I don't know if your camera focus was off though.

  • Fucksakes now we got beard expert

  • 1. Avoid shitty genetics

  • Best i've seen in this category! Especially liked the parts about top and base line. Hardest one is by far not to compare! Guys tend to do this about a lot of things, but this is the hardest one for me

  • Thank you, this was much appreciated! :)

  • Trim your cheeks down and fix the lighting, balance your sideburns and take off those ridiculous suspenders. Hipster. Trim more. Shape more. You are not an expert. you are a hipster. and your tattoos are as week and lame as your cutting scars. So much good advice in the comments. You don't have a beard to be giving beard advice. I have bells palsy and you look more sideways then I do. stand up straight ffs...

  • The hipster is strong in you, young banjo player

    • 😂 this wins the comment section today

  • Hey, it's that guy with the beard!

  • You answered all my questions dude thanks

  • Is there any other oils that could work besides beard oil?

    • @Matty Conrad oh okay what is the best beard oil to buy?

    • Many oils work... it really depends on the situation. However beard oil is designed to do a few things extraordinarily well. A good one should absorb completely, not leave a shiny film, and the fragrance should dissipate over time. The one I mentioned in this video does all that.

  • Number 1 tip for growing a beard: DON'T SHAVE

    • yeah... that one felt too obvious 🤷🏻‍♂️

  • Never forget that your body is designed to grow this. All these products do is crutch your own ability to rectify issues. If you have trouble growing thick, consider testosterone levels before you consider some BS product. Hair is grown mainly based on diet, so try improving that before hoping for magic solutions in a bottle.

    • @Matty Conrad You do a great job focusing on the care and not the products. Big props on mentioning the comb as a bad choice. I can't tell you how many guys never even think about it. Just like crappy hair ties once it gets longer.

    • Hi Ian, That is true for some people... their body is just naturally great at growing a beard.... others not so much... even with the right diet and a healthy level of testosterone.... Each persons body has genetically different types of receptors in their facial follicle structures...which determine the type and volume of hair growth And yes I agree there are a lot of BS products out there when It comes to growing a beard. This video is almost entirely focussed around caring for a beard and optimizing your chances of growing a glorious one naturally. Thanks for your comment.

  • I'm 67 and growing mine for 8 years. As a rideshare driver, younger guys always asked me, "how do you grow it that long"? My answer was, "don't cut it". Seriously, you never know what you have there until you let it grow, only then can you address any issues. As for grooming, I guess I'm lucky. I just use Zest soap in the shower, then apply a bit of liquid mink oil while it's still damp. I've used most every product out there, and it always looks the same anyway. As for trimming, start by letting it get "too long", then trim conservatively until you get a look you like. My mantra is " You have to go through ugly to get to beautiful, but there's a fine line between handsome and homeless ".

    • @Green Nut Likely a way to stay busy and feel useful. Not trying to put words in his mouth but those are the common reasons.

    • @Green Nut In America our pension systems have been gutted by corporations and every time you turn around they are moving the goal post for Social Security. Add on to this that because of mismanagement of the Social Security fund they are having to shrink the amount you are given each month to the point that an average person cannot live on what Social Security provides each month, so many older Americans try to go as long as possible without retiring and filing for Social Security because if you defer until you are 70 your monthly stipend goes up. He could also just like staying active and interacting with people, but my guess is the former. TLDR: Americans are systematically being screwed out of a comfortable and dignified retirement by corporate leeches and their paid cronies in the government.

    • @Hello Human what does it have to do with being american?

    • @Green Nut Probably American

    • the question is you're 67 and still work?

  • Yes it was helpful 🙏

  • What is a good beard brush?

    • I suggest something with Natural Bristles

  • Tip number 8. And i couldn’t even stop myself from comparing my clean shave with your beard

    • lol... it's never too late 🤷🏻‍♂️

  • Tip number 8. Yeah easy for you to say

  • My number one mistake is i keep shaving it off

  • No 8 lads.. No 8. Good luck fellas x

  • helpful video

  • Shaving it off is one

  • I LIKE YOUR STYLE MATTY... YEEEAHHH

  • Hi Matty. Thank you a lot for your guides. It's very useful for beginners like me. Have question about #7 : What about soap for beard? There is some specially designed for beard in stores. Also additional questions: -What difference between oil and balm? When it's better to use oil and when - balm? -Do you have some advices for men like me - with sparse beard on my cheeks? I already started use brush, but maybe you have additional advices?

  • I'm a female but I always dreamed to became a barbershop for men, giving them councils about the beard or give an advice on how conquer a girl, and looking your videos make me feel so a dreamer and relaxed ! 😍

  • Is there a magical way to have a full beard?

  • Good tips, good video...next time spell check...

  • Honestly who would dislike this video!!

  • Hi Matty, I have a question. I've grown a beard for about three months now and I have noticed that if I use beard oil (2-3 drops) only for the skin, my beard feels very dry and coarse. But if I put just a little to my beard also, first it feels soft but then it feels just like greasy, dirty hair. With a balm or a butter it's the same thing. Should I just use some for my skin and hope that the dryness goes away? I rinse and use beard conditioner almost every day, but use beard shampoo once or twice a week.

  • liked & subscribed.

  • A barber fucked up my beard by cutting the bottom line too high This guy knows what he talking about. The very best way to grow a beard is to not trim it at all until you're at the length you want. Just forget about it.

  • Rule #8: Is not the beard on the outside that counts, is the beard on the inside - Action Hank, 1997

  • Plz anyone tell me .solution of mustache falling..

  • Almost 2 months in growing my beard, I mostly trim around the lips and the neckline and let the rest grow. Never grew my beard before :D

  • Thanks for your advices sir!

  • Ive had a beard most of my adult life but last year I wanted to grow a long beard. I got about 9inches but the problem since I have straight hair not a cool curly one after about an hour out of tbe shower iy has a mind of its own it seperates curles up on one side looks greasy. Id love to grow it to mid gut. So question is with enough weight will it straighten out? How do you keep looking nit greasy? I wash it all the time. Any suggestions?

    • That's probably just you being too self-critical. "O wad a gift the giftee gie us, To see oursels as others see us"

  • The last rule is the most important. Great tips!

  • I'm guilty of not following rule 7

  • Why... Why the music? Ruined what could have been a good video

  • What you recommend for a lagging patch, beard is long but the patch I’ll comb to hide it.

  • Why am I watching this when in 17 lol but hey I already got a good beard for my age

    • Can we see it lol 😂

  • I sometimes trim a few millimeters off individual hairs that grow a bit longer or develop a split. Do people recommend against that, too?

  • Great vid

  • Def should make more content. Should make a dedicated one for necklines, too many guys I know really think up to the jaw looks good.

  • The last bit was Well said.

  • Mix the beard oil with a little water in your hands to make it easier to get it all over the beard. Stay bearded.

  • How to tackle with icchey beard. While growing.

  • Don't kill me for this but can I use pomade to shape my beard??

    • Absolutely! But pomade has a shiny look to it. That works for some people... but when I need something more matte looking I use Super-Dry.. from www.victorybarber.com

  • Tough part is growing a beard while maintaining a professional look. Right now I'm in between interviews and job searching and can't commit to fully growing our a beard cause its quite unkept growing it out. Would love to watch a video on how to maintain facial hair for working professionals!

    • I feel you man. I am on the same boat rn

    • As soon as I finish the GQ series I will definitely cover that!!!

  • Epic. Jesus loves you btw

  • You would think the person GQ brought on to speak about beards would give himself a nice trim before coming on camera

    • lol. you WOULD think that!!! But unfortunately we are still in the middle of that video series and the deal is that I don't touch it in between filming for them! Thanks for watching!

  • Hey Matt, I started growing my beard from last 2 and a half months now. Do you suggest that I should use Beard Oil now? I started using Beard Balm recently

    • Use beard oil . Actually my beard is greater than this guy

    • I grew my beard for a year and believe me beard oil is just to maintain your beard cause as it grows bigger it gets damaged too and it's just a myth that beard oil causes the beard to grow

  • mistakes guys make growing beards is listening to people like him

  • I thought you shaved it all off

    • I did! We filmed that episode in October... been growing it back since.

  • What about those people of color cause most of your rules don't apply, ijs.. This is why I don't purchase from white companies.. Ijs

    • I'm black but this is a dumb comment. This is why I don't support old people

    • Which of these rules do you are racially specific exactly? Incidentally I support black owned companies all the time.. not because they are black owned ... but because they are good companies.

    • Maybe try searching beard care for black people and start there instead of bitching about the video

  • My God, how on earth the Vikings were able to maintain their beards without these videos is Beyond me. Growing a beard: Stop shaving. But I get it, you need all eyes on you, gotta get them clicks, condition us beardsman to believe we need special products, routines etc.

  • What is the proper way to remove these couple of hairs on my cheek that are very high so they dont grow back?

    • Sometimes if it's just 2 or three hairs I will use a tweezers so I don't cut any hairs I want to keep.

    • @Matty Conrad got it, thanks for the reply.

    • I find the best way to do it is just with the trimmer. If you’re looking to remove them permanently that’s gonna require lasering… But I don’t usually recommend that

  • So there is this myth that if a teenager has empty cheeks, he should shave his beard for it to fill in. Is that true?

    • @Matty Conrad Oh thank you so much sir and I wish you a happy day.

    • That is actually a myth. The only thing it accomplishes is getting all the new growing hairs to be the same length.

  • I use a beard cream and wash accordingly I still get the itch idk why

    • @Matty Conrad beard shampoo from the beard club

    • Which wash are you using? You might want to switch to an oil and massage it into the skin rather than just the beard hair!

  • Been growing a beard for over 2 years now. Your content really helped me out with my beard. Keep up the good work!

    • @Kairo 4670 wow mad skillz bro

    • @ston 42 bah bah wack sheep, nothing but stacked meat.

    • @Bear's Creek Rapper I'm thankful you dont have kids aswel as you sound like a right dick, and I think you may of misunderstood your dad, he was just saying he wish he'd never had you!

    • @Rodi Doesburg The negativity outweighs the positive. The internet along with social media are destroy our culture, our society. It's real bad. We constantly compare ourselves, leading to insecurities. I'm thankful not to have kids. Even my father said there's noway he'd have had my sister and me now. It's a crazy, wild world. Cardi B is getting eaten out on her album cover. Tip of the iceberg. Edit: Cardi B is a role model for young girls. Yikes.

    • Yeah of course, but I didn't know how to trim my beard correctly, until I found this channel. People always said my beard didn't look groomed enough, because I didn't know how to trim properly. If this helped me it doesn't mean this should help anyone else, but if you don't like this kind of channels just don't watch it or leave your comment for yourself. There is enough negativity on the internet already.

  • I want to hide my ugly face, sadly being asian i cant grow beard :( what could i do to grow beard? are they pills i could take to grow beard?

    • Hey man, I actually think your facial hair style looks pretty slick.

    • I think you need help Tyrone you are not ugly being less hairy isn't something to be ashamed of or even worried about it hope you were not serious There are people who can't see or hear or do anything I hope you have family or some one in your life you can trust

    • @Alex Junge i am feeling suicidal :(

    • Nope Tyrone Harley Davidson breakout but you will probably find other more meaningful things like art or storytelling or sports or something Not everyone can grow beards it's ok

  • Smokey the Bear vibes with that hat! 🤩

    • @Matty Conrad I like the hat it's very cool bro!

    • You’re not the first person to say so. And I dig it

  • I’m curious. I know plastic combs are bad for beards. But what about wooden combs? I’ve been using one for a while now and don’t seem to have any issues with hairs being pulled.

    • Wooden combs are not bad as long as they have wider set teeth (which most do)
